IACT discussion posts...

An Airline captain bought himself a Hamburger and carried the bag with himself to sign in for his flight. Guess what? He was no allowed to carry the bag through the magnetometer with him , but instead was asked to X-Ray it!! This shows how far has Airport security has gone post 9/11.

My brother just left day before yesterday for India, he told me that he was asked to remove his belt, his rings, chains etc while going through the metal detectors at
the Dubai Airport! The new surveillance techniques have thoroughly succeeded in invading personal privacy.

Things like tweezers are also asked to be taken out of the bags. Do they think that a terrorist will be able to hijack a plane with a pair of tweezers?

Here's my reply, as quoted:

This isn't news.... airports are supposted to do this sort of thing whether you are an airline captain, a military colonel, a Navy Admiral or a civilian; it's a RULE that people go through the metal detector without carrying anything on them or with them, placing their belongings on X-Ray machines.

They aren't new surveillance techniques...reason why you have to remove your belt, rings, chains, and anything metal before going through the metal detector is because if you go through it with those things on it'll set off the detector. The whole point of metal detector is to detect any metal objects on you after you have gone through it without the belt, chains, coins, and etc.

Even if you go at the air expo here(held every two years in Dubai...) you go through the metal detector and you aren't even allowed to take your mobile phone with you. (I know because I've been there..) But they are doing it because they have live fighters and military aircraft on display there; which can be hijacked.

Oh you'd be surprised what people can hide explosives in today...objects can be deceiving...(and I'm not talking James Bond movies here)

Besides you can kill anyone with an object like tweezers provided you know where to aim it at...

Makes you wonder that one.... *new* surveillance techniques? How'd she get to Dubai anyway? on a camel?!
